Winter Weath And Plus Size Fashion

For many women winter is full of dreary cold days and strong bitter wind chill. Most of us brace for the cold by putting on warm weather functional clothing that erases our figures beneath layers and layers of material. For plus size women the challenge is even more difficult since plus size clothing is already not as appealing and more bulky. So is their anything you can do? Yes! No matter what the weather is like in winter their are methods for making sure you dress with sass and style.

To stay warm even when the weather is cold, dress in layers. Thin, supple layers are more effective than thicker layers because they fit closer to the skin and hold in body heat. Choose long-sleeved inner shirts and top them with a sweater or sweatshirt that you can remove when indoors. This formula allows you to look stylish indoors, while keeping you warm as you run errands that keep you racing around town.

One thing that you can do if you’re looking for a bit of style is try a pair of thick opaque tights paired with a skirt. Depending on how thick your tights are and how bad the weather is outside, think about a shorter skirt paired with thick tights. Black tights are a great way to show off your legs and emphasize your curves, and with the addition of weatherproof, sturdy leather boots, you’re all set for the snow storms. You can also wear thick tights under trousers or jeans to get some more warmth. If you have thin slacks that look great and you don’t want to put them away for the season, consider pairing them with some tights to make them winter-ready.

Women who wear plus sizes should consider avoiding coats that only come down to the waist. Thigh length peacoats will create a refined look. It is a wonderful style, as well as warm. Black wool, or more lavish material work well. Always choose something you like; if you feel good in it, you probably look good in that coat. Try a long wool coat for a more sweeping style (one that goes down to your ankles). Remember to check the cut. Does it flare at the bottom? Does it fit well but not wrinkle? It’s quite easy to find a coat that is a bit boxy in this regard, but look for one that has a good drape on you. Basically, avoid coats that are cut to look like a tube!

During the Winter you should be more concerned about icy roads and being snowed in than what you are wearing. With a little preparation you can be well prepared for the winter months to come.
