Scars - What Happens when your Skin is Injured?

A scar is a mark left on the skin after an injury. Wounds that affect your skin will end in some degree of scarring. Scarring is a result of the natural curative process of our skin and the appearance of a scar depends on depth, size and location of the injury.

How does scarring occur and how can we aid our skin to eliminate scars?

As mentioned in the introduction, scarring is the natural curative process of a wound. The skin is left with a scar when the thicker and deeper layers of the skin (the dermis) are damaged. The severity of the scar will depend on the severity of the wound.

Any time our skin gets damaged by, for example a cut or an acne infection, a number of different cells come to the rescue. This is the body’s way of shielding itself from harm. It is a complex curative process that usually causes scarring.

The process begins with the constriction of blood vessels which form clots to minimize blood loss. A scab or crust will form over the top of the wound. This will act as a protective barrier against foreign substances, protecting the body whilst fixing the problem.

To fix the damage, the body has to accumulate new collagen fibers; a naturally occurring protein which is produced by our system. Collagen is a tough, fiber-like protein that makes up most of the scar tissue. In scar tissue, collagen is more numerous and more randomly arranged.

This process results in a fortuna scar which is the most common type of scarring. It is signaled by the body’s reaction of laying new collagen fibers over the wound. The body cannot exactly reconstruct the tissue causing the new scar tissue to have a different appearance and texture than the surrounding healthy skin tissue. Scar tissue is commonly of inferior functional quality and less resistant to ultraviolet radiation. This also implies that sweat glands and hair follicles do not grow within these areas.

Do you have a Scar?

Skin affected by injuries will without doubt be affected by the consequences. That is why it is recommended that you use a treatment balm to prevent possible scar formation. Other occurrences that should be treated to avoid scar tissue might include surgical procedures, cuts, accident and/or acne scars. A microdermabrasion product that includes skin renewal activators and gentle physical abrasives will efficiently eliminate new and old scars.

Scars are an inevitable consequence of an injury. Our body tries its best to heal wounds, but sometimes it’s difficult to avoid severe scar formation. The best recommendation is to use a microdermabrasion cream to aid the skin to correctly eliminate scars.

Scars can now be safely eliminated thanks to BIO SKIN EXFOL, a biological skin care product that includes one of the best remedial ingredients that Mother Nature can offer.
